Operation Sindoor: A Strong Reply to Pakistan | How South Asia’s Situation Changed

Introduction: Why was Operation Sindoor necessary?
The face of terror was revealed once again in 2025 when 26 innocent Indian citizens were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. This attack was carried out by Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Operation Sindoor: A Deadly Strategy

India carried out airstrikes on 9 terrorist hideouts in PoK and Pakistan at around 3:40 AM on 7 May 2025.
Advanced fighter jets like Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, Mirage 2000 took part in this operation. India Pakistan Conflict 2025

Targeted locations:
Bahawalpur (where Jaish-e-Mohammed is headquartered)
Muridke (Lashkar-e-Taiba’s stronghold)

Sialkot
Kotli
Muzaffarabad
Parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Lipa Valley
Haji Pir

All these places were hit by SCALP and HAMMER missiles. The attack lasted just 23 minutes but shook Pakistan to its core.

Pakistan’s response

The Pakistani army claimed that it shot down 5 Indian fighter jets and captured some Indian soldiers. However, India has described these claims as “completely false and fabricated”. Indian Army Action

The Pakistani government has termed India’s move as an “act of war”.

Why is the operation named “Sindoor”?

The name “Sindoor” is a symbol of sacrifice and revenge. It was not just a military operation, but a deep warning from India against terrorism. Sindoor Symbolizing India’s Culture and Pride. Internal Preparations: Operation Abhyas
The Indian government conducted mock drills named “Operation Abhyas” across the country:
Civil Defence Exercise in 244 districts

Air Raid Siren
Blackout
Evacuation Training
Partial shutdown of mobile network

This was the largest civil defence exercise since 1971, which shows that India is now fully prepared for any situation. India-Pakistan War
International Reaction
United Nations:
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appealed to both countries to exercise “maximum restraint”.

US:

The White House said –
“India has every right to defend itself, but we want to see a de-escalation of tensions in the region.”

China:
China expressed concern over India’s attack and advised to “restore peace”, but did not say anything directly about terrorism.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stand

PM Modi has immediately cancelled his foreign trip to three countries and held a meeting with the National Security Advisor (NSA), Defense Minister and Army Chiefs to monitor the entire situation.
His tweet:

“This is the new India. Not the one who tolerates attack, but the one who gives a befitting reply. Jai Hind”

Is a situation of war developing?
At present, the Indian government is following the strategy of isolating Pakistan through limited strikes and diplomatic pressure. But if Pakistan makes any move again, a major military operation can be launched by India.
